The Ministry of Energy and Mines (MEM) presented the International Standard ISO 26000 on Social Responsibility, which provides a practical guide to help organizations address the social responsibility for the impact of their activities.

"The global concern for organizations to maintain social and environmental dimensions reached the field of legislation. Therefore, the ISO 26000 is the first guide to social responsibility applies to all types of public or private organization, said Jose Luis Carbajal, director of the General Office of Social Management (OGGs) of MEM.

added that the completion of standard work took 5 years for preparation and approval which has involved more than 90 countries, including Peru. "Right now is a Peruvian technical standard that can guide various types of organizations to contribute to sustainable development," he said Carbajal.

"The standard has different types of information and guidance, including definitions concerning the characteristics of social responsibility. explained that the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) began developing the International Standard ISO 26000 on Social Responsibility, with the aim of promote human value within organizations and to add knowledge in issues involving the progress of the community.

"While this rule is not certifiable as other issued by the same association, it provides a practical guide to help organizations to consider the social responsibility associated with the impact of their activities, she said.
